The Main Lot, Card by Card

The Get directions button opens Google Maps in a separate tab. The coordinates are the ones DCR prints in its suggested hikes PDF. DCR's trail map draws no second lot, and OpenStreetMap maps no other parking area inside the park, so this is the only card. Space counts are left out because neither source gives one.

Where to Park

The park address is 74 Curzon Mill Road, Newburyport, MA 01950. DCR's trail map puts the main entrance, with parking and restrooms, on Curzon Mill Road beside the old Farm Complex, with park headquarters next to the lot. Every one of DCR's suggested walks and rides starts from this lot, and DCR gives its coordinates as 42.821848, -70.925964.

Curzon Mill Road runs along the park's western side, between the Artichoke River and the estate grounds. On the map, Hoyt's Lane and Pine Hill Road bound the park to the south, and Interstate 95 passes its southeast corner near the old Gatekeeper's House on Spring Lane. Set your GPS to the street address or DCR's coordinates rather than to the highway.

Parking Fees

DCR sells daily parking passes for Maudslay through YODEL, its parking-pass system. Buy the pass before you walk away from the car, and check for signs at the lot about how payment works on the day.

Annual and Senior Passes

A DCR Annual Parking Pass costs $60 and covers the daily fee at most DCR parks that charge one, for one calendar year (January 1 to December 31). You need a Massachusetts driver's license and a Massachusetts-registered vehicle; non-resident passes are no longer sold. The pass is tied to one license plate and can't be moved to another car, and rental cars aren't eligible. Buy it online through YODEL.

Massachusetts residents 62 and older can get a lifetime Senior Parking Pass for $10. DCR sells it online through YODEL or by mail; it is not sold at the parks. If you walk Maudslay often, either pass pays for itself quickly because the fee here applies in every month.

Who Parks Free

DCR waives daily parking fees, with no pass needed, for vehicles with a disability license plate or placard, a Purple Heart recipient plate, or a disabled veteran plate.

When the Lot Is Busy

DCR's hiking guidance warns that trailhead parking can be limited, asks drivers not to block other cars in, and advises against leaving valuables in the car. Weekends in late May and June, when the azaleas, rhododendrons and mountain laurel are in bloom, and sunny fall weekends are the obvious times to come early.

Accessible Parking and Mobility Devices

The park has accessible restrooms, and from spring through fall DCR lends a tracked wheelchair and an electric mobility scooter for use on the trails, free, with a reservation at least three days ahead. Details are on plan your visit.

Before You Go

The park is open sunrise to sunset (see hours). Questions about parking on a given day go to the park office at (978) 465-7223. Read the rules before you bring a dog, a bike or a horse.
